Liam, Founder at Freelancelift

I’ve put together a short, introductory 4 session course to show you where to start

I started out building Freelancelift with the intention of filling in the blanks that existed my first time around freelancing. The real information that would have helped me make a difference, not just the same old minutiae of detail teaching me to “be better at Elance by bidding $1 less than the average”.

I’m here to tell you that’s all BS. There is a reason top bracket freelancers in your space don’t hunt for scraps of business on the “run of the mill” freelancer exchanges.

That initial attempt was to end in failure and me hastily retreating into a design position within a large corporate. That sad chapter was to prove my making though, I had the creativity and flare of a freelancer entrepreneur but now had an insight into big business shit.

So what if you could combine the love, care and passion of a freelancer with the mind-muscle, strategy and determination of a corporation?

Well that’s what I did, and I haven’t looked back since.

Freelancelift gives you the tools to learn not just from my experience, but from other freelancers and solo entrepreneurs who have been there and done it.

All of whom dig into their story in the Q&A interviews I share with the Freelancelift community.

But there’s a problem, where do you start?

I quickly realized that I had so much information that it needed filtering into a ‘path of action’ you can follow.

A simple set of sessions that will guide you through the content on Freelancelift and help you make the most of the ‘No bullshit business growth advice for the ‘doing okay freelancer’

So I’ve prioritized and organized everything you need to know into 4 introductory sessions which you'll get by email and online.

Session One

What if everything you knew about freelancing was wrong?

Let's do it already

There are three primary constraints that are just accepted norms within “freelancing as usual”. In this first session I break these apart so you know what you’re dealing with. Admittedly the session title is a little severe as I imagine some of this insight you’re already on top of.

You’ll learn

  • The three main constraints for freelancers
  • How and why to make the big moves for growth
  • Simple yet big picture ideas for overcoming each constraint
Session Two

How to supplement your freelance income

Let's do it already

I call this literally the biggest move you can make for growth. If session One was an introduction to the landscape this session comes packed with ideas on building a diversified income by productizing the handiwork and expertise you already have.

You’ll learn

  • Why freelancers are pretty bad at offsetting risk
  • From 3 former freelancers who've productized their expertise
  • A free mindmap & video for the key product features
Session Three

How to differentiate yourself from the herd and rise above the noise

Let's do it already

In this session we’ll take a look at why top bracket freelancers just don’t appear on small-time job exchanges. Sure, they may have had to at some point but they quickly realized that a specialism, and differentiation enabled great clients to find them (not the other way around).

You’ll learn

  • Why it starts with a vision for who you really serve
  • How to ‘think different’ and act differently to the pack
  • How to know if you have a problem with specificity
Session Four

What to do if nobody knows who you are

Let's do it already

Everybody had to start somewhere right? Chances are you’re already ‘doing Twitter’ or have a Facebook page but guess what, so is everybody else.

To make an impact and capture attention which turns into clients you need to go bigger to raise your online voice. The good news is, ‘going bigger’ doesn’t necessarily mean ‘spending more time’.

You’ll learn

  • Why you need a solid, credible web presence
  • What Hansel & Gretel have to do with your growth
  • Why its all about providing value

Let's do it

This course exists to provide you with the full sweep of the landscape and get you thinking, it stops short of diving too deep on any one subject – I wanted to pull together only the most actionable bits and areas that will make you think without taking too much of your billable time.
